About us (History)

Founded in 1966 by a group of Baie-Saint-Paul businessmen, including Marcel Labbé, the Le Genévrier campground is now owned by the Labbé family and celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2016.

Situated just a few kilometers from the town of Baie-Saint-Paul in an enchanting, easy-to-reach location, Le Genévrier was quick to benefit from the Charlevoix region’s already enviable reputation and Quebecers’s growing enthusiasm for camping. Le Genévrier grew fast, boasting nearly 500 well-equipped campsites by the early 1970s.

To grow the business and ensure its long-term viability, the Labbé brothers started building rental cottages in 1986, a new trend at the time. They also developed Le Genévrier’s winter outdoor activities, making it a year round destination.

Today Le Genévrier offers 35 tourist rental cottages, 400 fully-serviced campsites—a hundred of which are designed for large recreational vehicles—and a host of summer and winter activities, including an outstanding network of hiking and mountain bike trails.
